Admittedly, this project was difficult for me at first. Looking through all the stuff I’ve completed over four years was slightly overwhelming and I felt I had too many options. Even when starting to narrow down I went through two phases of decision making before landing on my final choice. Another takeaway from revisiting old work was how much I’ve changed as a student and writer. I saw my dedication to my my work excel and the quality of my written work improve. A clear voice and confidence starts to develop once it gets into my work from late sophomore to junior year. I believe my revised work embodys the same elements as well.

What I love most about this project is how universal the problem it explores is. Most humans, whether you like it or not, use social media in some way. Whether for communication or work-related purposes were all tethered to the it. I think it’s evident to most how much the internet has changed us as a species. It’s an external factor in how we think and go about our every day lives, so much so it can be dangerous. I wanted to make others aware or at least more concerned about how social media does such especially with identity. Possibly a tool to reflect on their own use or for their loved ones.

Also, choosing this project allowed me to show off the writing skills I’ve learned as mentioned prior. Not only have I improved my general spelling and grammar, but serious structural elemets have changed as well. I can write more persuasively and build complex ideas through smooth paragraph structure. There are specific techniques I’ve learned as well such as naysayer arguments or barclay paragraph styles.

Comparing the two products side by side, I’m proud of the quality of my work. You can see me move from source reliability to leading with my own voice. Not only a measure of my writing confidence but my confidence in my ideas as an individual. This sentiment is something I don’t believe the original or my earliest college assignments represent. Yet now, as a senior, can confidently say shines through my revision project and later work.
