- Competently employ digital media in professional settings as an effective communication tool.
- Have a working knowledge of media story structure
- Create media content that communicates effectively using a variety of tools
- Contribute to the production of media content by serving in different roles and working effectively in teams
The above LO requires students be able to use a variety of digital media to communicate, especially in professional settings. Additionally, create their own media with with knowledge of structure, technology, and effective collaboration. Two assignments I believe meet the expectations is the reporting podcast from CMM-211: Introduction to Journalism and the Artist Book video from Creative Writing: Poetry.
Both of these assignments are meant to tell a story while informing the audience about a subject. In the case of my reporting podcast, it tells readers about the structure of writing in journalism and how to effectively create media. Its format as a short podcast makes the content digestable and accessible to individuals. Additionally, the project is a group assignment which meets the ability to work in teams.
The Artist Book video is meant to communicate the intentions and creative processing that went into making my own artist book. You can tell from the flow of the video I implement a media story structure in terms of how I talk about process, creation, and the reading. Doing so demonstrates an intentional cohesiveness in how I’m trying to communicate to the audience. Lastly, the artist book itself is a form of media because it’s meant to tell a story through poetry/artwork in an intentional manner.
