UNE Students Announce New Safety and Sustainability App for Biddeford Campus
April 14th- [FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE]
Biddeford, ME – This past Tuesday, students from the University of New England announced a new carpool and buddy system safety app Find Your Way. With affordability and easy access, this app aims to help students safely commute to and around campus.
The app’s design promotes community among campus residents and encourages commuters to reduce their carbon footprint by sharing rides. It offers nine on-campus hotspots and ten off-campus locations for students to connect.
“When I was a freshman, I wished I had a tool to navigate my campus safely – with the bonus of meeting new people”, stated Jane Brooks, former UNE student, and current company CEO.
Knowing that meeting new people can be stressful, the app limits personal information sharing and ensures only current UNE students can register. Multiple system preference options are available for students to maximize comfortability and safety.
In joining Find Your Way’s mission, you will not only be promoting a close-knit and safe community, but you will also be helping Maine’s beautiful environment. By commuting, students can reduce GHG emissions by 4 to 5 percent, according to research reported by UC Berkley.
“I never knew how much of my commute I shared with my peers”, said Suzie Green, “Find Your Way helped me make some great connections while helping the environment along the way”.
While developing the app and its use, Find Your Way sought to incorporate UNE’s mission, ‘innovation for a healthier planet.’ Meaning, the company strives to accommodate students with the best resources while making the best choices for humanity’s home.
With the semester winding down, students who sign-up starting May 1st will get their first month free, alongside reduced summer rates. To find out more about the app and how you can get involved with its mission, there are multiple resources one can reach out to.
For in-person meetings, the office is located at 27 Hills Beach Road. If you want this app implemented at your campus environment, call us at 555-555-5005, or go to the website findyourway.com
