After completing the brochure project and seeing what other groups presented, I have two big take aways. I think the strongest part of my group’s project was the visual appearance and information on our brochure. It used a thematic color pattern throughout the panels and included imaging or icons to draw in readers. I feel like the audience were able to connect our color palette back to the values we expressed. The greens were to represent a eco-friendly nature and the blues/yellows were to represent UNE. White was then used to highlight only the most important information such as how many locations we had to offer, testimonials, or statistics.
One way this could have been more emphasized was if we printed out a copy of the brochure for the presentation. I felt for other groups it added an additional element where the audience could interact. There is always a difference between just looking and physically holding and flipping through the panels. If we had printed it, doing it in color would have been the best route.
The other take away I had from this experience was our presentation itself. After watching the other groups incorporate humor to their time while also remaining professional; I wish we had done so. It left me feeling that we were a bit more rigid than we needed to be. Whether out of nerves or pressure, we could have loosened up a little bit on stage. Another thing with our presentation was that I felt I could have rehearsed a little bit more. I had myself feeling very confident about it, and stumbled more than I could have if practiced more.
