Journal #17

For my calm-down video, I want to go for a more personal focus rather than a general video. Meaning, the content of the video will directly speak to me (as a nervous individual) over serving as a video anyone could watch.

Some of the ideas I currently have are:

  • including images of things I enjoy/bring me the idea of peace (my dogs, the beach, and hiking)
  • having a background song that instills courage, resilience, and peace (what I was currently thinking is the instrumental of a Grateful Dead song if copyright allows)
  • Have the song, specifically the background instrumental, play while I am speaking
  • Have a neutral background color so I can then insert the images without making the screen feel overwhelmed
  • Guide myself through some activities to motivate and calm myself prior to interviewing (5 senses and 5 things around me, breathing exercises, power stance)
  • I think some affirmations for confidence would be another helpful addition to this

My next steps:

  • Writing/typing out a physical script to orient what will be said in which order
  • Decide what medium I will record this on (I’m leaning towards GarageBand or Vimeo)
  • Compiling the images I want to include in the video
  • Practicing/recording the video itself
