I got a lot of positive feedback overall from this peer session. Honestly, I did not get many comments of things that I had to change other than some consideration of tone. I had, in my original draft, the closing sentence “I look forward to meeting with you team”. After talking with my peers, it was brought to my attention how this could sound passive, depending on how someones understands my writing. Referring this back to our class discussions and our text, the tone of our writing truly matters. What we understand to be positive could be negative to another.
The other suggestion I received from my peers is how to connect my qualifications back to the specific job I was going for. I had a heavy information base for how I could fill the position, but it didn’t touch enough on how I could implement it into the job. The way I was able to fix this was look at what I would be doing if I did receive the job, and what I would do in that position. Also, expressing my goal or interest outside of my qualifications. This I found was a way to personally connect with the hiring managers deeper than “this is why I should get the job”.
