Journal 18

I thought that today was a quick, but good workshop. We only had two stories to examine so not much feedback was provided but what was said happened to be useful. I thought the most useful thing said in todays class was the importance of sharpening your angle. This is extremely important so the story flows smoothly and pushes the reader along. We’ve been talking a lot about how important flow is to grab the readers attention and make them want to keep reading. I think the other most important part of todays workshop and has been reflected on in others is copy editing. When a writer reads there story so many times over, small mistakes such as grammar, spelling, and run on sentences become blurred to the eye. Having other students be able to read your story and catch those small things is super helpful to each other. I thought that everyone was respectful in doing this and changing our different “hats” of a writer.
