Is UVM really the No. 1 cannabis school?
The first story I read this week pertains to UVM being culturally known as the number one university for smoking cannabis. I thought this was a great and relevant story the federal laws and overall perspective on cannabis use today. I thought the angle was respective in the sense that no one was trying to demonize the use of cannabis, as long as its done not on student grounds. I also appreciated that it included more student perspective rather than admissions making a statement. I felt the angle and message this piece was sending aligns with my own personal beliefs surrounding cannabis.
SGA fails to provide promised mandatory sexual violence training
The second story I looked at for this week was another surrounding sexual assault awareness and training on UVM campus. This is one trend I have found consistent in many of the stories I have looked at so far. It makes me wonder how big of an issue this is on UVMs campus and how UNE handles sexual assault also. I think the concerns they have around training actually happening and being efficient is a viable concern. The way students work with administration and calls to action from students is what creates momentum. It also makes me think about how UNE could have more sexual assault awareness and training, as it happens on every campus. UVMs choice of doing it through club leaders is also interesting to me, would that benefit UNEs leaders? Even being one myself.
