Blog Proj Week 3

First article:
This article was a piece, I believe, in regards to black history month. It talks about the first African American editor-in-chief of the Cynic in the late 1950s. It is a very interesting piece as many AA did not hold positions of power, much rather any educational power at all during this time. It was very in depth about Nicodemus McCollum’s III involvement within the Cynic in his era, and about his personal life. There are a few small grammatical errors within the paper of things restated more than once, but overall it is a meaningful soft news piece for this time.

Second article:

This article focused on the recent application rates to the university. Since recent news, the amount of Vermont applicants to the university has decreased dramatically. It comes after their recent high of over 30,000+ applicants to the school. It then begins discussing how the future of the University will look, and their goal of increasing their Vermont student rate. They also discuss how Vermont students are slowly beginning to not graduate, and birth rate is decreasing too. Interviews included Jay Jacobs who is in charge of enrollment management.
