The first article I read is about the recent bans in libraries and public schools against books that are deemed dangerous for young children. Much of this content in these books is with regard to political views, LGBTQ+ views, racism, and antiracism. The main idea of the article is that although many of these bans are happening across America, they are not happening in Vermont. This is believed to be because Vermont is a very independent state compared to most others. The article interviews LaLonde, a State Representative who’s views strongly support the article in stating that there should be freedom in literature.https://vtcynic.com/features/censorship-continues-to-be-pushed-in-public-libraries-but-not-in-vermont/
The second article that I read covered the recent covid spike amongst UVM campus. They saw a recent 300+ spike in cases between the days of January 17 through 23rd. They also had a 2.5% positivity rate across campus, the same compared to the January 4th reporting. Although the recent spike, the article reports that cases will soon decrease after this seemingly predicted spike. The article interviewed the Vice President of Safety on campus Gary Derr. https://vtcynic.com/news/covid-cases-at-uvm-reach-all-time-high-due-to-omicron-variant-decline-projected-in-coming-weeks/
