Journal #29

I thought this interview went much smoother, especially with being on the side of the interviewer. I was confident in the questions I was going to ask, and from being in the observations before I had an idea of what to expect. It was also important to me to have a copy of our handbook next to me so then when a candidate referenced it, I could look for its validity. One thing I found hard during these interviews because of being on a zoom format was trying to grasp everything someone was saying. I was able to hear most but with some gaps in wording. It took away from the effectiveness of my evaluation and the feeling of it being a real interview. Another was I constantly said ‘yeah’ before asking my questions out of nerves. A small thing but it should have been refined before going in. It makes me look a bit unprofessional especially for being in the hiring position. Otherwise though, I felt good leaving todays class and about how I did.
