One thing I really want to highlight from this chapter was when discussing the components of a interview, specifically on the interviewee’s role. There are multiple factors that I feel many do not remember to consider when preparing to be interviewed. Most importantly out of the ones listed, is to gather information. I find this to be most often forgotten about. Going into an interview, you need to understand what you are being interviewed for. Not only the position itself, but a company as a whole. This means to look into their ethics, morals, work place environment, etc. All of these factors play into creating a healthy work space and its extremely important to examine these factors before going for a position. More often than not, people do not examine these factors before going in. It leads to a higher chance of being unhappy once granted the position. A personal example of mine was when I went for a hostess job at a restaurant. I hadn’t fully understood by responsibilities before taking the position, later leading to me being very unhappy. The other reason looking into a company before an interview is to be well prepared. It looks more professional to walk into an interview with a general understanding of who you’re meeting with. It also increases chances on the interview going well. Therefore, the most important component of pre-interview for me, is to gather resources and information on who/what you’re up against.
